Rising in the city center, Karahisar Castle stands majestically atop a 226-meter-high volcanic rock formation. Its commanding position offers visitors breathtaking panoramic views of the city. Considered one of the oldest historical structures in the region, the castle is believed to have been built around 1350 BC during the reign of the Hittite Emperor Mursili II.

Accessible by climbing 546 steps, the castle rewards visitors with a stunning view overlooking Afyon. Located in the Kent neighborhood, directly opposite the Grand Mosque (Ulu Cami), Karahisar Castle can easily be reached by public transportation or private vehicle. Minibuses from various parts of the city provide convenient access, and admission to the castle is free of charge.
